Let us have another example, when calcium oxide and carbon dioxide react, they produce calcium carbonate:

C a O_{(s)} + C O_{2} (g) ⟶ C a C O_{3} (s)

On the other hand, when $C a C O_{3}$ is heated in an open flask, it decomposes to form calcium oxide and carbon dioxide. $C O_{2}$ escapes out and reaction goes to completion:
